We were first involved in this project back in 2010, when this interesting flat in a Victorian mansion block near Bishops Park needed a total revamp.
To restore the original feel of the property, we re-instated the Victorian features and installed salvaged fireplaces and cornices. Alongside this, we subtly introduced a modern and contemporary flavour to the design.
Embracing the generous entertaining space in the kitchen, we designed a bespoke extendable stainless steel and black oak dining table that can easily host up to 12 people. Other bespoke elements include clever storage solutions and displays for the owner's art collection. The result is an elegant yet also very liveable family home.
Then, in 2023, we were asked to come back, as the owner wanted to update and remodel the flat to maximise every inch of the property, which by then needed to accommodate the needs of growing children. In addition to updating the flooring and walls, we designed a customised bunk bed for the children. This bed also has storage for clothes, a pull-out drawer containing a keyboard and bookshelves with individually lit reading nooks.
Huntington Courtyard is a spacious apartment in the centre of the bustling Cotswold town of Stow. Our challenge was to combine the typical Cotswold stone walls with 15th Century wooden panelling and the client’s wish for mid-century interiors – we think we managed it rather well. We also had a tight budget; hence we used striking paint colours and large impact items to create a styling and grown-up space with a WOW factor.

“Kirstin and her team from InsideOut Interior Design exceeded all of our expectations. From the brief to the completion of the project, Kirstin listened to our needs, making the indoor spaces not only functional but safe and beautiful. Having bought a Grade II listed property in the centre of Stow, we decided to steer away from the typical country charm and opted for a mid century vibe instead. Kirstin pulled out all the stops! She was able to create the perfect layout, focusing on both the little details and the big picture to design cohesive spaces. Kirstin and her team were always readily available to communicate and their ability to tie in the colours, lighting and materials to give the right feel and balance to the space is second to none. They were very adaptable and able to make necessary changes to adhere to the budget while still producing beautiful options. All members of her trade team produced an impeccable product and/or service, and were a pleasure to work with. Thank you for our stunning “home away from home”! We absolutely adore our new space and are forever grateful to you and your team. In the brief we stated that we wanted a space which would photograph well….see for yourself, they nailed it!”

We love designing spaces for children. Our bespoke bunk beds are truly unique – within the footprint of a single bed we can create space-saving solutions that offer lots of storage and clever features. Whether it be hidden drawers, bookshelves or reading corners, keyboard or guitar storage, desk space for homework, or even an inbuilt doll's house or Lego station – whatever the requirements for your child's perfect space, we can design and build it for you!
The brief was to strengthen the fabric of this Grade II listed house and make it fit for modern-day family life. We entirely gutted the building, replaced the roof, converted the utility room into a stylish and contemporary shower room, designed a traditional country kitchen and renovated and styled the space throughout.
We created valuable space by designing bespoke joinery for nearly every room, building in much-needed storage as well as a more balanced plan and some charming moments, such as a cosy reading nook under the stairs.
The client wanted to incorporate his collection of rare Persian rugs into this traditional Cotswold setting and combine them to create a relaxed, calm interior that mixed rustic with a touch of richly exotic. We used neutral tones for the backdrop and then picked up the colours and patterns from the rugs, which we used in the bespoke cushions, throws and soft furnishings.
The overall result is a stunning and truly unique home.
This once derelict 18th Century cottage has been carefully restored and extended to provide a beautiful light living and entertainment space for modern-day family life as well as creating flexible accommodation and clever storage.
This project has been short-listed for the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovation Awards 2022.
The overgrown garden has been completely re-designed to give a truly stunning inside/outside experience, with a clever layout to maximise the usage of the space for the whole family. The garden has been accredited by the Society of Garden Designers.
This little gem in the heart of the Cotswolds needed a total overhaul.
Having been a working smithy until the 1970s, we wanted to preserve the beautiful features of this house but at the same time needed to create a space fit for modern-day family life.
We gutted the entire house, re-configured the downstairs living space and designed and installed a new handmade kitchen and two stylish bathrooms.
We are very pleased with the result as it is now a welcoming home as well as a highly successful holiday-let, with lots of traditional Cotswolds features – we even put the wooden beams back in.

“Kirstin has managed several projects on holiday cottages that I have marketed. The results were always spectacular and the projects were delivered in line and on time with her initial projections. I like to work with Kirstin as she has an eye for detail, extensive experience and expertise needed for creating holiday-lets that perform well and stand the test of time as well as a professional approach to her work.
Having introduced Kirstin to the owners of several tired and low yielding properties, we have witnessed an immediate and sharp increase in bookings and rental yields as a direct result from her tailored interventions.”

Styling is an equally important part of interior design – showing off a property at its best, either for rental or sale. We have worked extensively with holiday-let agencies and photographers over the years and understand that sales photos are very important. We have experience in preparing your property, setting it up, supplying and sourcing props and styling each shot.
Wendle oozes charm and traditional features but the house was tired and dark. We chose fresh and neutral paints and introduced some pops of colour and pattern in the upholstery and soft furnishings.
We gave the kitchen and bathrooms a major (although cost-effective) overhaul in order to update them.
We also commissioned bespoke headboards and window treatments to make this holiday-let stand out from the crowd – it is now a little gem and offers quirky as well as thoughtful design touches to make this an unforgettable holiday home.

We were commissioned to design the Living Room and snug of this beautiful Cotswold home as well as design and install the window treatments throughout.
We changed the furniture layout to improve the flow of the living space. We chose new furniture and lighting as well as textured rugs, cushions and throws to give the rooms more interest and warmth. Accessories give the home a contemporary and modern twist.

“Kirstin from InsideOut was so good to work with. From the minute she arrived everything was just taken care of, while I still felt like I was making the important decisions for the final look. She was very transparent on costs and invoicing and extremely professional throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend InsideOut to anybody.”
